The newTITAN Procedure skin tightening technology uses a unique light source (Optical Energy) to create a thermal profile in the dermis with the goal of tissue tightening of loose skin (laxity, drooping, saggy & wrinkled skin). If you recently saw "The View" recently on daytime television (June 2006 showing), they had an excellent presentation on cosmetic surgery and skin procedures and the myths, and the one constant part of each procedure shown was that you should always have a physician doing your procedures. The take away message from "The View" was that side effects were much more frequent when non-physician nurses and technicians were doing fillers, Botox, lasers, high energy sources and skin rejuvenation systems on patients. There are clinics that hide behind a "physician supervisor" who is never around and never seen by the patient. These same clinics are constantly telling lies and libeling the legitimate doctor run clinics. Research suggests the thermal effect creates tissue tightening by remodeling of collagen and elastin in the dermis, along with fibroblast formation with subsequent contraction of collagen in the dermis resulting in a “significant lift effect”. Dr. Leiker has never seen the TITAN or LUX IR procedure injure fat or cause a burn. Competitor systems in the past have had problems with injuring fat and causing on occasion a depression in the skin. You can review complaints about competitor systems online with a search of the name of the competitor along with "side effects" or "adverse reactions".
Do your own search on "competitor systems", place the "name of the system" or company into Yahoo or Google searches, add the term "side effects" and put "message boards or forums" and read the comments.
