Any adult can benefit from skin rejuvenation whether they are 25 or 65. Young adults who smoke are encouraged to start treatments early to retard the aging process. We have all seen how tobacco use can add 10 or even 15 years of age to the face/skin and speed up the aging process. What happens is that the tobacco smoke and toxins destroy the collagen and vascularity in the skin. The Laser XEO Genesis system stimulates your own collagen production and improves remodeling to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines and reduces pore size, redness, scar tissue, and other signs of aging. Women especially like the ease of the treatment with no pain and no down-time. You can return to either work or your activities immediately after the treatment. with no downtime.

Another benefit of receiving treatment at our clinic is that we can use two or more laser/pulsed light systems to get the best results for the improvement of age spots, pigmentation changes, and vascularity. A StarLux PhotoFacial works great with the Genesis Series.

1. Looking younger doesn't have to mean cosmetic surgery.
Men and women can choose from a variety of non-surgical procedures that can turn back the clock. The procedures discussed in this section were designed to reverse, improve or erase the earliest signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, sun-damaged skin, redness, large pores, unsightly blood vessels, and age spots and irregular pigmentation problems. They are often referred to as "Lunchtime Procedures" because they take about a half-hour to perform on average and do not have any major downtime or recovery period. 2. Signs of Facial Aging Do you have crow's feet? Smoker's Lines? Wrinkles? Facial Scarring? Large Pores? Brown Spots? The fine details of one's face is sometimes the most important cue to the person's age. In your 30's, wrinkles and age spots may begin to appear. Your skin may seem less radiant and may show signs of discoloration. In your 40's, the collagen and elastin support network begins to break down. Lines and wrinkles become more prominent as your skin becomes dryer. The blood flow begins to slow down, leaving your skin with less of a blush. Sun damage, tobacco use, overall health and genetics can contribute to these processes. Skin thins, and redness and spider vessels and matting become common. Age spots and discoloration appear (dyschromia). Once in your 50's, the new cell production decreases. Your skin retains less water, which increases the wrinkle formation. At the same time the underlying fat cells in your face shrink and your excess skin begins to sag and become loose and droopy. 3. Do You Smoke? Smoking can cause increased lines and aging to your skin. Smoking can seriously dry out your skin, making it red and cracked and giving it a dull, grey appearance. Smoking won't make you look just a couple of years older, it will make you look old. The reason why is that smoking impedes and/or destroys collagen formation, and the collagen is necessary to make your skin soft and supple. That's part of the reason why female smokers are three times as likely to have moderate to severe wrinkling as female nonsmokers. Young adults who smoke are encouraged to start treatments to retard the aging process and individuals who have been smoking for 5-7+ years can take advantage of our clinics non-surgical procedure to decrease and improve smoker's lines & wrinkles. We have all seen how tobacco use can add 10 or even 15 years of age to the face/skin and speed up the aging process.. What happens is that the tobacco smoke and toxins destroy the collagen and vascularity in the skin. The Laser XEO Genesis system stimulates your own collagen to get rid of wrinkles and fine lines and reduces pore size, redness, and other signs of aging. Women especially like the ease of the treatment with no pain and no down-time. You can return to work or your activities immediately after the treatment.

3. Why are they called Lunchtime Procedures?
They are called lunchtime procedures because you can improve various signs of aging in just a short period of time and return to your normal activities immediately. It can be done any time of the day, not just over the lunch hour. Your skin will have a healthy glow, age spots will lighten or disappear, wrinkles around the eyes and frown lines will be softened, and sagging skin can be improved.
Patients love these procedures because they help slow down the appearance of aging. The procedures are essentially painless and generally result in just a small amount of redness for a hour or two after the procedure. You can reapply your make-up immediately after the procedure if you desire and go about your everyday business. It's easier than ever before to look your best.
4. What is recovery like?
After any of these treatments you may experience some redness or swelling at the treatment site. This can be covered with make-up and you can resume normal activities immediately. What our patients like the most about these procedures is that no one has to know that they had them. They just look better!

5. Laser Skin Rejuvenation
Laser Skin Rejuvenation was designed to combat the effects of aging and damaged skin in a softer, gentler way. The redness and flushing of rosacea can be reduced. It can be used to treat the full face, neck, chest and even the hands. While using the newest and most advanced technology of the XEO Genesis Laser System your doctor gently delivers precise amounts of light energy through your skin's surface. Treatments are spaced out at about three or four week intervals. The energy is delivered at specific settings for each treatment to maximize your results based on your skin type and clinical exam. The light energy of the XEO Laser System stimulates the production of collagen, which very few other systems can accomplish. As the new collagen forms, it softens the appearance of aging skin. Fine lines and wrinkles are decreased. The redness associated with rosacea and blood vessels can be reduced. Abnormal pigmentation and age spots can generally be lightened and improved with aStarLux Photofacial.
6. What results can I expect? Your skin will have a more even tone with a smoother look and feel. Sunspots will fade. Pore sizes tend to shrink. Fine lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease in size as the series of treatments progress. Usually these improvements will steadily increase with each subsequent treatment. Patients with rosacea will see a progressive decrease in redness with the series of treatments. 7. What will recovery be like?
For the majority, post-operative discomfort is almost non-existent. After treatment with most light systems, the treated skin may appear a little flushed and capillaries may seem to be more visible. The flushed look soon fades away, and the capillaries appear to vanish, leaving the skin looking younger. It's that simple. Subsequent to any treatment, you should follow your doctor's instructions, avoid any harsh skin cleansers and use sunscreen. It is always wise to stop smoking for both the health of your lungs and for the health of your skin.

8. How do Genesis and Pulsed Light Photo Rejuvenation treatments work?
Today's new light technology delivers precise dosages of energy to the skin. During your treatment, light energy is gently delivered through a special handpiece to the targeted area. Levels of energy specific to your treatment are used to maximize your improvement. Once delivered, the light energy is absorbed by the targeted damaged tissue. The settings are based on your specific skin type and clinical exam.
**In our clinic only a physician does StarLux Photofacials, bear this in mind, because in many clinics, non-physician technicians are performing these treatments. Our fees are very reasonable, and competitive with most any "technician laser shop" around, so why not have a physician do your treatments? Plus, we have the newest and most advanced lasers to stimulate your own collagen. Our office will be very fair, very competitive, and upfront about your costs. We want you as a patient!
9. How many treatments will I need?
Depending on the area treated, there will be a series of five initial treatments that are about 2 to 3 weeks apart. Treatments usually take from 20 to 30 minutes and are administered in the doctor's office. After the initial series of treatments, depending on clinical result, other follow-up treatments may be recommended (and you may well desire more, after seeing the positive benefits from the treatments). Often patients will want a single follow-up treatment at a 6 months to keep their skin looking the best it can look and maintain a more youthful appearance.
10. Does Laser/Pulsed Light Photo Facial Rejuvenation hurt?
The XEO Genesis Laser System is essentially painless. A topical anesthetic is not necessary for either StarLux photofacials or Genesis. After treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent. Most tolerate these procedures quite well and can return to work or their activity shortly thereafter.
11. Who are the best candidates for Photofacials & Skin Rejuvenation?
The best candidates usually will have: -wrinkles & fine lines -red, flushed faces, or fine blood vessels -sun-damaged skin -hyperpigmentation, including age spots, melasma -enlarged pores.
12. Are Laser/Pulsed Light Photo Rejuvenation treatments safe?
Yes. Advanced light systems have been used safely for millions of treatments worldwide. These systems treat only the targeted tissues, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. However, some redness may occur. In rare instances bruising, blistering, scarring, and pigmentary disorders can occur with either hypo or hyper pigmentation. Though most of these procedures go well, no one can guarantee 100% that there will be no adverse reactions even under the best of all care, due to variations in skin sensitivity, allergies, genetics, variation in healing among patients, etc. that often cannot be predicted ahead of a procedure. |
